Red Diesel is a low-tax fuel that is most commonly used in the agricultural, construction, and ports and marine sectors. It has the same fuel grade as a regular diesel, the difference is red diesel contains a red dye to prevent its use on public roads, it is manufactured fuel for use in off-road vehicles, machinery and generators. Legislation Changes to Red Diesel
In 2020 it was announced that from April 2022, red diesel will no longer be available to all the sectors that currently use the fuel, with the exception of agriculture, forest, non-commercial heating and the rail sector. Other sectors operating outside of these exceptions will see a rise in their prices for fuel. This change in legislation is encouraging businesses to evaluate the fuel they use and look to sustainable alternatives.
