Do you want to reduce your environmental impact?

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil

With the increasing demand for reductions in greenhouse gas emissions within the UK and the Government’s ambition to be net zero by 2050, there has been an increasing demand in the market for alternative and sustainable fuels to replace fossil fuels. We have seen a rise in the demand for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) which is a fossil-free, low carbon drop-in diesel replacement made from 100% renewable waste, residues and vegetable oils.

Unlike other biodiesel products, HVO is created through a hydrogenation process which simply means it was created using hydrogen instead of methanol as its “catalyst” and oxygen is removed from the vegetable oils in the process. This means that HVO is a great alternative for those who store fuel for long periods of time as it doesn’t oxidize or cause contamination, HVO has a storage life of around ten years. A further benefit for those who store fuel for long periods of time, is that HVO has a Cold Filter Plugging Point (CFPP) of -40℃ which means even during the coldest of months that HVO will continue to pass through your filterised system.

One of the main benefits of HVO is its reduction in carbon emissions by up to 90% from well-to-wheel, with a significant reduction in Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions and Particulate Matter (PM) as well as being odourless, it provides improved air quality for those working in and around the site where fuel is being burned.

HVO is a drop-in diesel replacement that meets  EN15940 standards which ensures it meets approvals and warranties with most engines and OEMs without the need for changes to assets or existing fuel infrastructure. HVO can be blended with standard diesel products without the need to remove or drain the existing products before use. HVO has a high cetane number and high energy density alongside the low oxygen content, this means that it is more efficient and smoother when combusting which causes less impact on the environment.

We provide a fully traceable HVO product supported by sustainability certifications and reporting that is made available to our customers with every order made. Whether you are a construction business looking to reduce your environmental impact on site, or an Energy & Power customer looking for a more stable and sustainable product for critical power requirements, HVO could be the solution to your businesses sustainability objectives.
